|WELCOME TO THE JEWELS INSTITUTIONS AND COURSES DATABASE
This database contains information about institutions providing Language
and Speech Education in Europe, and the courses they offer.
Browse to browse the database.
NB these items come down the left panel as well.
The Find page will bring up a standard full-text search engine.
The Course search page will offer search of the database based on filling a search form. To search the course database, fill in the fields you are interested in on the form. Leave the other fields blank. This brings up a course form. When the submit button is pressed, the course database is searched for matches. Matches need not be complete - i.e. if the field says `phonetics' then `introduction to phonetics' is a hit. The search returns a clickable list of courses/institutions which match filled fields. Clicking on an item in this list brings up the form for that course.
The Register page offers registration with the database editor. The following text is provided: "You need to register with the editor to be able to enter new courses or modify existing ones. In order to grant access privileges to you, we need some personal data for our records. After you have entered your details, the editor will receive your application via email. If you are granted access, you will be notified by email. In the meantime you can use Browse mode only."
Registration information requires the following:
NB. Help for these items is provided either by clicking on the field names or by bubbles that appear when moving the cursor over them.
The Login page is for registered JEWELS authors only. Users are requested to fill in a form with their login name and password. Upon submission of this information, they are granted access for entering new information in the database.
Fill in the details for the new course on the form below, then click SUBMIT. This brings up a blank course form.
Enter sufficient details to identify the course you wish to use as a template. This brings up a blank form. When submit is clicked, find database matches. If > 1 , list & ask for choice; proceed as with ADD.
Brings up a list of courses whose author is the logged in author. Author selects a course, the form comes up. When MODIFY is clicked, the database is amended, but the old version is archived.
Fill in sufficient fields on the form below to identify the course you wish to remove from the database. This brings up a blank course form but with a remove rather than a submit button. When remove is clicked, find matches in the database. If more than one, display them like the results of a search, ask to choose one, then ask for confirmation before it's finally removed. Don't lose the old course entirely - just make it invisible, or archive it.
